NAOMI LEMON
レモン・ナオミ

I began martial arts when I was thirteen years old. Though I did not expect it, this led to me receiving my black belt in 2017 and becoming the Clemson Hapkido Club President. I taught martial arts at Clemson for four years.
In my role as the main instructor and Club President, I ran fundraising events to help my students pay for their belt tests, uniforms, travel expenses, and more. I held club-related parties to celebrate everyone's achievements. I also scheduled meetups with out sister school in Greenville so they could meet older, more experienced instructors.

In a position of leadership, my focus was inclusivity. I found so many interesting people who were fascinated by martial arts but felt the could not participate for various reasons. It became my personal mission to include everyone who wanted to join. The skills I gained in this position will stay with me forever.

Check out this video of my black belt test- which I took with a sprained ankle!

MARTIAL ARTS

LOCAL OUTREACH
One of the first things I wanted to do when I went to college was find volunteer opportunities. I wanted to contribute to the community and make new friends, since I didn't personally know anyone going to Clemson.
The tiny house project was the first volunteer opportunity I found and working on it was a wonderful, life-changing experience. I went into it with zero knowledge on construction and left having learned learned many new skills, with several new friendships, and a new appreciation for non-profit work.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Art has been a part of my life since I was a child. My interest in photography was fostered by my father, who never shied away from sharing his love for photography with his children. All of the background images on this website are my own. Please take a look at some of my work!
